Workshop: Building Confidence as a New Yoga Teacher
Sunday 29th November, 10 - 5pm
The Well Centre, Leamington Spa
£85
This one day workshop is designed for yoga teachers who are newly qualified, or, teachers who might have been qualified for a while and haven’t found the confidence to start teaching.
We all start somewhere, and this is exactly what this day will explore; finding your feet in teaching yoga in a way that feels right to you. In a way that means you’re the best teacher you can be for yourself and for your students. That’s different for everyone, so this workshop will help you to build the confidence in understanding what’s right for you. We’ll also cover important points around marketing and the financial side of teaching, because that’s just as important for feeling confident in yourself.
This is for you if you’re feeling nervous to teach, that you’re teaching but lacking confidence in yourself, or, that you don’t have a clue where to begin.
Rough schedule of the day:
10am - Arrival
10:15 - Yoga practice to ease into the day (all levels flow)
11:30 - Finding your teaching style, voice and beginning to build your community - we’ll discuss the language you use when teaching, bringing across your personality, structuring sessions and whether to adjust or not. We’ll also explore teaching in different settings (gyms, outdoors, studios, halls), plus more!
1 - Lunch break
2 - Marketing yourself & creating sustainable teaching opportunities - we’ll discuss different ways of marketing yourself (inc. content creation, online systems) and, we’ll cover some of the practical bits around money
3:30 - Working in a way to support your energy and avoid burn out - this is about ensuring you are as compassionate to yourself as you are to your students, and, preventing yourself from feeling fatigued by something you started because you’re passionate about it
5 - Goodbyes
Why I’ve decided to host this workshop
I’m Hannah, a Yoga Teacher and Nutritionist in Warwickshire. I qualified as a yoga teacher 3 years ago, and have been self employed, teaching full time for 1 year. I’ve been incredibly lucky to teach in some amazing spaces, connecting with a whole range of different people.
My qualifications: 200hr TT (working towards 500hr), Aerial Yoga, MSc Nutritional Therapy. Additional CPD/workshops in: Ashtanga, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Sound healing, Somatic yoga.h
I’m on my own journey of progressing my teaching and my yoga and nutrition business, and so really understand and remember how daunting it feels taking that first step. I have lots of knowledge and experiences to share from my journey so far, which is what has shaped this workshop.
Teaching is as much about the journey you go on, as it is the one you create for your students who come into your sessions. And that’s what we’ll explore in a day.. or try to!
I also have a background in brand marketing, which definitely helps in setting up your own business. Marketing is super important, but, it’s the knowing your why, what your style is and how you carry that through your teaching that really matters. Then, the marketing yourself comes.
So, we’ll start the day by discussing how you start to figure out what your style is, who your audience are that, and then lead into how that filters into how you market yourself. We’ll finish with potentially the most important part of the day - how do you protect your energy and prevent yourself from burn out? You’re entering into an incredible position to hold space for others, but you need to be making time for yourself. So we’ll also chat through that.
This is a space to share ideas and concerns; no question or thought is a silly one. The likelihood is, if you’re thinking it, I most certainly will have, as will others. We’ll support each other in feeling more ready and confident in teaching.
